Celebrating Marriage Group

Background

In response to St Paul’s Parish Assembly feedback, which identified ‘Marriage’ as an important issue, a small steering group was established early in 2007 to consider and develop opportunities within the Parish to share and celebrate positive experiences of the Sacrament of Marriage.  The steering group consists of 3 married couples that were elected from a larger group from within the parish, and Fr John.

Aims

Provide opportunities for couples of all ages in the parish to meet occasionally throughout the year for fellowship, prayer time, socialising and celebration focused on married love and married life.

Provide a positive and welcoming environment for those separated by death or distance to feel that they can comfortably participate and share their wisdom and experience of marriage.

Provide a positive and welcoming environment for non-married couples and individuals interested in marriage to witness the benefits and graces of married life and perhaps consider the Sacrament of Marriage for themselves.

Encourage and support one another in our married lives and to witness that we are thankful for the gift of Love contained within the Sacrament of Marriage.

Objectives

Two successful events have already taken place (‘Barbeque’ in May 07 and ‘Reflect & Refresh’ in July 07 - Photographs in the Parish photographs section) and a further 2 events are planned for November 2007 (Family Night) and February 2008 (Saint Valentines Day Celebration).
