Parish of Saint Paul, The Apostle

Canon Cornelius Dennehy
Welcome

Under the pastorship of Fr. Kearney's successor, Canon Dennehey, the parishes of St. Paul's and St. Mark's, which had been joined together in the time of Fr. O'Brien, were again divided into separate parishes. Canon Dennehey continued as parish priest of St. Mark's, while Fr. Conlon was appointed to the charge of St. Paul's.

Canon Dennehey was ordained in 1913 and his first post was St. Mirin's, Paisley before moving on to build the church of St. Conval's, Linwood. He then went on to build the church of Christ the King, King's Park as well as setting up new parishes in Balornock and Bishopbriggs. Before coming to St. Paul's he was parish priest of St. Joseph's, Tollcross. After his time at St. Paul's & St. Mark's he moved on to St. Aloysius', Springburn.

Canon Dennehey had only been about a year in retirement when he died at Limerick in May 1956. He was buried in Liscarroll, the place where he had been born.
