Parish of Saint Paul, The Apostle

Canon O'Connor served only 2 years in St. Paul's before he, too, had to retire because of ill-health.

After being ordained in March 1892 he was appointed to St. Mary's, Calton and then in 1898 transferred to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Maryhill. Two years later he was appointed parish priest at Clarkston and then 2 years later he came to St. Paul's.

After living in semi-retirement for a number of years, his health improved so much that he was appointed to Burnbank before returning to Maryhill. In December 1931 the first Catholic service broadcast from the Glasgow archdiocese took place from the recently reconditioned and renovated Maryhill church. Canon O'Connor personally drew up the programme for the broadcast.

He was only a few months short of his golden jubilee, which he would have celebrated in March 1942, when he died at the age of 76
