Fr. Joseph Van Hecke

Fr. Joseph Van Hecke was born in Bruges, Belgium, on 30th October 1854 and came to St. Paul's after spending 6 years at St. John's, Glasgow. After spending 8 years in St. Paul's he moved to St. Ignatius', Wishaw where he served for over 30 years. He was only 2 years away from his golden jubilee when he died in 1927 at the age of 73.

During the First World War he greatly helped the Belgian refugees and, for his work in that connection, he was decorated with the King Albert Medal.

First Communion Mass: Sunday 13th of May - At all Sunday Masses.

Mass of Thanks giving: procession and presentation of certificates - Solemnity of Corpus Christi 10th June at 10am Mass , attended also by The Knights of the Holy Sepulchure.
