Rev. John J. N. Burns

Fr. Burns was ordained in St. Andrew's Cathedral on 29th June 1954 and his first appointment was to St. Roch's, Garngad before moving on to St. Vincent's, Thornliebank in 1969. While at St. Vincent's, Monsignor Renfrew asked him to be his assistant when he was appointed Vicar for Religious and when he became a Bishop, he asked him to become his chaplain and Master of Ceremonies. " I know how you work, and you know how I work" was how he put it!

In 1978 he moved to St. Patrick's, Anderston to assist an elderly priest who sadly died within months of his arrival. Being a one man parish, this meant that Fr. Burns had to move on and so he arrived at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Broomhill where he stayed until moving to Our Lady of the Assumption, Ruchill in 1982. He served the parish for 7 years until he moved, in 1989, to St. Catherine's, Balornock before coming to join us as Parish Priest in 1997, sadly Fr. Burns passed away in the year 2000.
